So…What Do You Think Of Origin?
Not Origin Systems, mind you…in this case, I’m referring to Electronic Arts’ digital download storefront, which also bears the name.

The exchange also made it obvious to us that some of Origin’s most fundamental features — like the ability to play your games from any PC — weren’t as clear as we’d hoped.

Honestly, prices are much too high when compared to Steam. I don’t like their website eithers (bugs, not easy to find special offers or a specific game). EA is evil …
I have yet to use it due to the competition. But obviousky I’ll be forced to use it if the new Ultima is on Origin. So, EA, yes, this is confirmation your new servicce will win me in one small category. Not like they couldn’t have guessed anyway.
Prices are higher than Steam. It is less intuitive. Several times I’ve been unable to connect to the service to play my games. I’ve purchased digital deluxe editions from Origin twice (SW:TOR and ME3) and was rather unhappy with what I got for the price both times. SW:TOR came with throwaway in-game items and that’s it. ME3 was the same price as the physical collector’s edition, but lacked all of the physical goodies. I only purchased it because the physical collector’s edition was sold out everywhere. And then I didn’t receive my item codes for about 10 days after the game’s launch.
I had to wait an hour for customer support in chat, who argued with me that I wasn’t entitled to any item codes (didn’t get my pre-order bonus, or the digital deluxe items). I opened an email ticket, and 10 days later I received my codes.
Quite frankly, I’m not crazy that EA is fragmenting the market. I know EA is trying to grow revenue, but all the problems I’ve had with Origin are just convincing me to use Steam exclusively and no longer purchase anything from EA/Origin.
I’ve made it clear to everyone I know that they should avoid purchasing anything from Origin, because of the numerous issues.
